NATIONALLY RANKED TENNIS PLAYER BACK ON HIS FEET
I had increasingly debilitating back pain over a number of years that had gotten to the point where I couldn’t go through a line at the airport, or walk 100 feet without sitting. It got critical when I was coming back from a tennis tournament. I tried to fix it myself through physical therapy and other means. I'm an advanced yoga practitioner and a highly ranked tennis player. I could not deal with it using the resources at hand and I didn’t like what I was being told by other medical professionals. I felt like being stabbed by a knife, and I was getting advice that I knew was wrong. I had heard about Dr. Lim from a fellow tennis player who had a good outcome. Other surgeons said I'd need fusion/plate screws, and that I'd never be an athlete again, but Dr. Lim identified the problem, a bone spur that other surgeons and hospitals hadn’t been able to identify. Dr. Lim told me that he's a minimalist and would do a simple, minimally invasive procedure to remove the spur.
Prior to surgery, I literally could not walk 30 feet. When I woke up from the surgery, I had no pain and the symptoms were completely gone, almost immediately. I credit much of this success to the fact that Dr. Lim is very confident in his skills and was willing to do something outside of the standard mold (a treatment that may open him up to more liability if it didn't go right) to give me the best possible treatment. It allowed me to go from semi-ambulatory medical status to being a nationally ranked tennis player within 2 years. That result that would have been impossible with the other treatments I had available to me.
Dr. Lim has excellent communication skills. He was honest, and didn’t sugar coat my condition or my treatment option. He talks like you would to your brother: Very direct, not just saying what you want to hear.
I would have absolute confidence in referring anyone to Dr. Lim with a spine conditions. I cannot say enough good things about him.
